Hi, can people give me an indication of how many shots they are getting from their batteries?

I have an A&K M249 Para with 9.6v mini Nimh and get around 2500 shots on an M120 spring.

Does this seem low and are there any mini batteries with more storage - what about LIPOs - has anyone tried them and are they better?

The only ones I have seen are the same Mah rating as the Nimhs

I also have the black 9.6v that came with the A&K and its lasted probably about the same. Changed over to a 8.4v 3300mah subc which lasts all weekend and gives me the suppresion/rof that I want from it. Ive ran in the workshop guns on my brother in laws aircraft lipos and they are very good in delivering the goods. Im not going down the lipo route until Ive got the cash for a totally seperate set of charging equipment. Theres a few clips on youtube of people running m249s on lipo, they sound wicked fast. The 3 cell 11.1v 2200mah will also fit into the para foregrip with no modding or messing either which is a bonus if youre keeping it stock.
I came to bring the pain, more heart for the game, more tears for your brain.

Thanks for the replies. So most of the mini batteries are going to deliver about 2500 shots (bit more if higher Mah) with Lipo being better - but I thought the Lipo Mah rating meant it is the same capacity as the Nimh?

Do you strap the bigger battery on the outside?

Do you think the A&K gearbox will take the higher rof from 11.1v? Do you find the 8.4v struggling on a stiffer spring or is it just a bit slower than the 9.6v? I think a lower rof might be better as I have a 1200rnd cloth mag on an it empties that v.fast as it is.

Yeah same capacity but a much higher dishcarge, so youll get the same ammount of shots and its capable of giving more power to the motor resulting in a higher rof.

I went down the larger G&P 8.4v 3300mah in a peq which gives the same rof (perhaps faster) as the ACM 9.6v 1400mah and with a stiff spring. Ive drilled a small hole in the foregrip and the wires pop through. Not the best solution but it does look the business on there though.

Will it take it? Ive allready stripped a piston on the 8.4v batt, the angle of engagement was bad and just ripped the back end of the piston clean off. I replaced the piston, added a few thin plastic washers and shaved a bit off the second tooth. Id say yes for a bit and youll need to be a bit of an engineer. Luckily probably the most easiest gearbox in the world to get out and work on. Grease, shim, AOE, I also put a Marui T1000 motor in there and a element 200% gear kit which included the bearing spring guide and put on a guarder bearing aluminium piston head. Its probably as ready for lipo as she'll ever be so may take the plunge v.soon. May do a bulk HK order.

Ta for the info. I have a larger battery so I might get a pouch, strrap it on and thread the wire out to it.

Let us know how you get on with the Lipo as that is probably the future for airsoft - just the issue of excessive discharge control needed so the Lipo does get stuffed.

I am suprised the A&K piston etc blew up but I suppose you have had a reasonable amount of shots out of it. I bought mine with the aim of running it until it dies then doing as you have done and put in quality parts. It still works out better value than a Star or CA one and it takes stanags mags etc as it should!
